Target Let Loose a Team of Beauty Advisors Yesterday

Yesterday, in 28 stores in and around Chicago, Target launched the Target Beauty Concierge program which could eventually spread to 450 stores nationwide and possibly Canada.

This is part of a nine month test to see if this helps the business and hone in on where they could improve their beauty department. To start, there will be 14 advisers, with each assigned to two stores that they split their time between. Each Target Beauty Concierge will be wearing black instead of the usual red and will be armed with a mirror and an iPad. They're in charge of the samples, so get on their good side. According to WWD, the Minneapolis-based corporation chose Chicago area for this test because it includes all its store formats and a broad cross-section of consumers. Ain't that the truth.

Staffing the service is leaning along the fun side as beauty advisors must possess multi-brand knowledge, probably gaining that by working in the industry for a little while, and have the opportunity to make this pilot program really fly. UPDATE: 07/18/12 In actuality, this Craigslist posting is for a Boots Beauty Advisor, which is totally different than Target’s program. Boots advisors are trained and employed by Boots and have no affiliation with the Target Beauty Concierge program.
