Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

And now the latest from Curbed Chicago, covering everything you need to know about the city's neighborhoods and real estate...

LINCOLN PARK— Curbed made a virtual visit (via live stream) to the latest meeting on the Children's Memorial redevelopment. Daniel McCaffery and his gang of architects and engineers presented updated plans for the 6-acre site, bringing more details and visuals to the table. Reactions, as always, were mixed. Reaching compromises on a 1,000-unit mixed-use development is no cake walk, and there's definitely more convincing to be done.

BUDLONG WOODS— A Keck + Keck midcentury masterwork in the out-of-the-way northern nabe of Budlong Woods has finally sold after three years on the market. Its ask fluctuating mightily, it ended up fetching $935K for 4,000 square feet of living space on one-third acre of leafy property. Revisit the awesomeness!

EVERYWHERE— Curbed's second annual Hottest Broker Week is revving up. We still need your nominations for the studdliest men and most smokin' women of the real estate industry. Go here to submit a JPEG headshot or link to one. And feel free to self-nominate, as sources remain confidential.

BUCKTOWN— A PoMo collage calling itself a single family home just hit the market for $750K at Cortland & Damen. As busily jumbled as its exterior is, the interiors are an exercise in restraint— more minimalist modern than postmodern, or, just horribly plain. The 4,500-square-foot home has lots of decadent components, and seems priced very fairly.
