Coach has chosen none other than Chicago's most bustling shopping strip, the Magnificent Mile as the debut location of its new retail format. The store at Michigan at Ontario has just completed a remodel to feature both men’s and women’s product, incorporate modern digital displays and a shoe salon.
The 6,385-square-foot store is separated into two areas, one dedicated to women’s product, and one to men’s. There is a new sense of grandeur and modernity, thanks to higher ceilings and an expanded shopping space with a large LED screen for digital displays. A women’s shoe salon and boutique sunglasses and jewelry area create an intimate shopping experience. The handbag area features both vintage and custom fixtures set against marble floors and walls painted with Coach’s signature vermillion or covered with the heritage ticking stripe fabric.
The timing coincides with the launch of Legacy, Coach’s Fall 2012 collection. The first dual-gender lifestyle offering from the iconic brand, Legacy is inspired by the timeless styles in the Coach archives and updated for a modern sensibility. A vibrant study in color, Legacy showcases iconic silhouettes, including the famous Coach Duffle, America’s first “It Bag,” the star of the collection. From handbags to outerwear, footwear, tech cases, small leather goods and jewelry, all the products embody the singular style that has made Coach instantly recognizable around the world.
The vibrant Legacy collection is displayed on white oak tables and nickel vitrines. The men’s section radiates an intimate, residential feel with natural wood flooring, brick walls and industrial-inspired furnishings, reflecting the aesthetic of the original Coach Men’s shop on Bleecker Street in New York City. The product assortment includes men’s bags, wallets, travel accessories and outerwear.
