SOUTH LOOP— Golub & Co have been dangling a loose prospect for an apartment tower at 9th & State for about a year now, which was met with a rendering back in May. Some combination of community feedback and back room chats has caused the developer to compose a completely new design, unveiled earlier this week. It's still going to have 39 stories and nearly 400 units, but this puppy's a lot more curvaceous than before. Come see!
LINCOLN PARK— There's an awesome little house for rent at Marshfield and Diversey. It only offers one bedroom and 1,200 square feet, but an architect-directed gut reno of the 1870 structure yields a fascinating modern space with the scale and modesty of a worker's cottage. The ask? $2,600/month.
GOLD COAST— Speculation concerning Viagra Triangle real estate has some wondering if The Mondrian Hotel project at Cedar and State can get some legs beneath it after four years of dormancy. Should the developer stick with architect Solomon Cordwell Buenz, something akin to the original 216-room glassy conceit may be expected. Hop on over and see what we mean.
LAKEVIEW— Something purporting to be of "traditional Mediterranean" style is languishing on the market in Lakeview. Beyond the five-year mark (although the listing has come and gone), a huge price chop this week may finally earn this 4-bed the attention it needs with the buying public. Then again, nifty as the place may be, it's only got 1,800 square feet of living space to offer up. The new ask? $1.699M.
