Here's an excellent program that enables parents to support their children’s school while getting their kids ready to head back there in the fall. The Red Balloon Co. on Damen in Bucktown and on Clark in Andersonville offers a Shop For Schools program where shoppers are able to donate three percent of all their purchases, whether in-store, online or over the phone, to Chicago area schools. Purchases support specific schools that each customer has designated their donations go to – whether it’s an underserved area school or their own child’s school. In just two years in its existence, the program has helped generate thousands for 28 Chicago schools.
