As Fall is the time to get out of the city for a lakeside afternoon breather, it's also the time to fill out your wardrobe with pieces for next spring's vacay. With this in mind, next month on your afternoon jaunts to peep the foliage on the North Shore you may as well make time to see neapolitan collection's latest Resort collections from J. Mendel, Dior and Derek Lam.
Starting Thursday, October 18 to Saturday, October 20, the J. Mendel Spring 2013 will be available for pre-orders. Using couture quality materials and impeccable craftsmanship the collection has a modern design sensibility. The Resort '13 collection is about architectural luxe-femininity with an air of sophistication. There are oxblood and cornflower blue pieces, strong geometric shapes and easy breezy materials like raffia and chiffon.
The following week, Tuesday, October 23rd to Wednesday, October 24th, Dior Cruise 2013 will be available for pre-orders. This is Bill Gaytten's final collection for Christian Dior before Raf Simons takes over. The collection is super feminine with florals and high-waisted numbers. There are peplums for miles and a few nude skin-toned pieces on top of the nautical tones we usually see.
Lastly, starting Thursday, October 25th to Saturday, October 27th the Derek Lam Resort and Spring 2013 will be available for pre-orders. To boil this resort collection down, it's "urban safari". Lam pulls out the anorak, shift dresses and piece-y jackets. He uses animal prints, horizontal stripes light blues, horticultural greens and some chunky knit textures.
