Let's Try This Again, Who Does the Shopping?

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

When we were growing up, school science projects rarely turn out the way we wanted, unless it was that papier maché volcano with the baking powder and vinegar in which case we killed it. Most of the time we had to execute the experiments over and over until the outcome was what we wanted. It's with this constant #fail in mind, that we bring up this stat that we recently came across from Sodahead where men, women and children were polled, asking who did the shopping. 64% of men said they did the shopping while 81% of women said they do the shopping. "Somebody" here has a jaded opinion, so let's try this again, we'll be honest with ourselves and think about this rationally.
