Lanvin quietly opened on Oak St. right amidst the flurry of the holiday season and has quietly been building quite a bit of buzz. Apparently the new Chicago outpost of the chic Parisian brand had a very special visitor last. We recently got word that in addition to the Lanvin corporate execs that came in to check on the new store Alber Elbaz himself was on hand to give his seal of approval. If he was half as impressed as we were with the new store then we think it's safe to say he was satisfied with what he saw. We're just a little bummed though that Alber didn't give us a head's up so that we could congratulate him on the stunning new Lanvin boutique with a round of drinks on us.
With Christopher Bailey jetting in to Chicago for the Burberry grand reopening and now Alber Elbaz sneaking around to investigate Lanvin's new boutique it seems we're being graced by an increasing number of fashion royalty. With Saint Laurent confirmed and Tom Ford set to open later this year we can only hope that Hedi Slimane and Mr. Ford will be on hand to open their respective boutiques. All we have to say is Alber, Hedi, and Tom: give drop us a line next time ya'll are in town and we'll have drinks at Del Frisco's. -Samm Mackin
