Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
It's rare that Labrabbit Optics, West Town's shop for the hippest bespectacled denizens, holds a sale. It's even rarer that you get to see owner Coyote De Groot's mom tending bar.
So tomorrow's third anniversary party, set to take over the store from 6 to 10 p.m., is kind of a blink-and-you'll miss it opportunity. De Groot promises beer, wine, and food (and lots of it); there will also be 30 percent discounts on all frames and sunglasses. Plus, you can meet the in-house lens-cutting machine, whose name is Ripley. And, since De Groot's mom will be in the house, he encourages you to "bring your mom, too."
