Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Vineyard Vines will open its first Chicago retail location at the Shops at North Bridge on November 1. Founded by two brothers—Shep and Ian Murray—the brand specializes in neckties with jaunty, sea-inspired prints (think anchors, smiling whales, and a whole lot of pastels).
The unabashedly preppy inventory also includes men's clothing, striped knit dresses for girls, tattersall whale shirts for boys, and cotton polos for women.
After they get the Michigan Avenue outpost up and running, the brothers plan to launch several more ships—er, shops—in the Midwest.
