Global beauty brand Huetiful—which has a salon in Atlanta and two retail stores in Paris—just opened a local salon. Specializing in natural hair and skincare products for women of color, Huetiful targeted Bronzeville because of the neighborhood's rich cultural heritage—and because Chicagoans dig the brand (they order it online record quantities.)

The man behind the beauty biz is Ken Burkeen, pictured above, who launched the company out of his living room (and, we hear, can't get enough of Bronzeville's H-Dog or The Aviary.) "Huetiful's Chicago Signature Salon is a physical extension of the products we manufacture, similar to the Apple Store's business model," he said. "Don't expect the typical salon."

One thing you won't spot anywhere else? A Professional Huetiful Hair Steamer, which cleanses, hydrates, and conditions tresses with wavy, curly, or "kinky-curly" textures. Another Huetiful touch: all appointments are booked online for quicker service.
