As reported by NBC Chicago, the city launched a "Buy Local" campaign on Friday to encourage consumers to support small businesses this holiday season.
Dubbed "Unwrap Chicago," the holiday campaign is part of the larger "Eat, Drink & Buy Local 365," which—you guessed it—asks Chicago residents to support local businesses every day of the year.
Unwrap Chicago is "not asking you to shop exclusively at local stores," Little Independent owner Lesley Tweedie told NBC. "[It's] asking you to shift a portion of your holiday spending dollars."
Amanda Neely, owner of the South Loop'sOverflow Coffe Bar, added: "One of the things I like most about this campaign is it's not to do everything but to do something."
