Local company Vosges Haut-Chocolat has us seriously considering plunking down $135 on an advent calendar. Need 24 reasons why we'd make such a purchase? We could give you that many—scout's honor—but here are some of our main talking points. (We may have had some practice begging for this.)

In rich purple with dainty golden details, the tabletop box is eye-candy all on its own (and, would make lovely home decor all year, if you ask us. It's meant to be a keepsake.) Inside, there are 24 teeny drawers filled with organic, peanut-butter bonbons, caramels, mini chocolate bars in exotic flavors, and—yes— a gnome. Plus, there's this kind of magical component: After pulling out each drawer, you flip it over and place it back in, and the pieces slowly form a holiday greeting.

If you're with us and need this now, it's available at Chicago's Vosges stores and online. Heads up: You may not get it before December 1 if you go the online route, but hey—you'll just have to have a few extra caramels and bonbons to catch up.
