You have to be pretty thick-skinned to deal with Chicago's climate. Welcome to our new series Skin Deep, which offers skincare-salvation tips from local pros.
When wintertime rolls around in Chicago, we're always eager (read: desperate) to stop the onslaught of dry lips, irritated skin—you know, all the fun stuff that comes with living in the Midwest. To get our cold-weather skincare routine in motion, we're calling local pros and asking them to recommend a skincare regimen to help us face off with Mother Nature.
Our first skincare rescue worker: Denise Provenzano, founder of Zano Salons & Spa, which has five locations (and countless glowing clients) in the Chicagoland area. Provenzano is quick to recommend the G.M. Collin skincare line, which—look at that—is the only line used in her spas.
"Chicagoland certainly has its winter challenges," she says. "The first effect is the artificial heat in our homes, cars, and workplace, which take a super drying toll on our skin. Add the cold wind and freezing temperatures, and what worked in July definitely needs some adjusting in November." Here's her suggestion for a winter routine.
