Luxury Eyesight, the Lakeview boutique and showroom devoted to serious specs, hosts its two-year anniversary on Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. The event will include a trunk show from Matsuda and snacks from Uncommon Ground, as well as drinks and prizes. Owning a small business—and celebrating its success—is no small feat. So we asked owner Ryan La Sasso to give us some behind-the-scenes scoop on being a boutique owner, and tell us the latest trends in eyewear.

Happy two-year anniversary! If you could go back in time and give yourself a piece on advice on your opening day, what would it be?
Bring the Tylenol! I'm kidding. It would be to expect the unexpected. You never know what each day will bring as a business owner.

What are the current trends you're seeing in eyewear, and how have those trends changed since you opened up shop?
Trends are constantly changing, but I would say the biggest thing right now is the cat eyes and "geek chic"— larger frames like from the '80s—for women. For men I would say the 50's style is making its way back around.

What in your current inventory are you most excited about?
Everything! We have so much interesting, funky, and unique eyewear from each of our designers.

What about owning a store makes you giddy?
I would say watching the store come from nothing to what it is now, and growing every day. This is the most satisfying as a business owner. We have grown tremendously in the last year alone and I just hope it keeps growing ever year.

What's been the most surprising aspect of owning a store?
Surprising aspect? I would say when we have had many patients come from out of state and out of the country! We've have had customers come from as far as Singapore, the U.K., Russia, and Brazil. That makes me giddy.

Who has been your most memorable customer in the past two years?
Wow! That's hard to say because about 10 patients come to mind right away. So I don't hurt anybody's feelings, I am going to say Iggy, one of our patient's husky-chihuahua dog that visits us weekly.

Which celebrity has the best eyewear style?
Honestly, I'm going to have to go with Brad Pitt. We seem to always see pictures of him wearing our designer's products in his per sonal life.
