Shop Damen: A New, Massive Gift-Shopping Bash

Still looking for holiday gifts? Then cancel your after-work plans, because tonight's Shop Damen event could help you check every. last. thing off your list. Dreamed up by Steven Alan store manager Drew Allison, the spanking new event takes place from 4 to 8 p.m. It involves the participation of 20-some stores on North Damen Avenue, and the street is getting all dressed up for the evening with bunches of red-and-green balloons. But beyond festive helium, here's a little taste of what you can expect:

All the stores will be offering discounts in the 15 to 40 percent range, and there will be plenty of sips and sweets. At Cynthia Rowley, there will be champagne and 20 percent off all apparel—including sale items. At Marc by Marc Jacobs, there will be more champagne, a live DJ, and 40—yes, 40—percent off fall and pre-fall shoes and the whole Little Marc collection. There will be bourbon-spiked eggnog and 40 percent discounts at Gant, 40 percent off at Tangerine (and, "we're popping bottles," says store owner Lori Mandarino) and more. So, ho, ho much more.
