Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

On January 3, the Wicker Park/Bucktown neighborhood will host its first "Orange Dot Friday." Overseen by Wicker Park Bucktown Special Service Area #33 (a business improvement district), the events will be held on the first friday of every month from 5 to 10 p.m. And, from the sounds of it, things are about to get delightfully weird.

Aimed at showcasing local design, shopping, and culture through unique presentations, the series will involve everything from live bands playing in Brainstorm Comics to dolls with sewn-in chakras at JoJo's Closet. "Orange Dot First Fridays will grow to become a quintessential Chicago experience," predicted Wicker Park Bucktown executive director Adam Burck in a press release. "Most neighborhoods in our fair city have monthly art walks and events but Wicker Park Bucktown, true to form, will have its own flavor." The events will also offer trunk shows, product launches, and extended store hours in the neighborhood.
