On Thursday night from 6 to 9 p.m., Comfort Me Boutique in Lincoln Park will host the debut trunk show for Maven Collection. Here's why we're digging this lifestyle brand: its products are ethically sourced, and handmade by artisans across the globe. But, it's headquartered right here in the Windy City, which makes it a rather nice embodiment of the the whole think global/ shop local thing.
The brand was founded just this year by Chicago local Laura Hebden, who was inspired to start her biz while traveling the globe. "I loved talking to the artisans and hearing them passionately discuss the products they devote their lives to creating, while at the same time I was sad to see them struggle to make a living wage doing so," she said in a press release. "I always came away wondering how access to a larger global market might ease some of their financial strain as well as showcasing their products to a larger audience."
At Thursday's trunk show, Hebden will showcase woven Moroccan wedding blankets, lambswool stoles, leather handbags, and more. Check out some of the goods below.
