Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Lincoln Park's Peruvian Connection is filled with "apparel for nomads and romantics," which sounds like a pretty poetic way to beat the cold. The store's artisan goods have been newly slashed for the semi-annual sale, which offers as much as 40 percent off items from the 2013 spring, summer, fall, and holiday collections.
Items include the French taffeta Borealis Dress, which has been marked down from $299 to $179; there's also a wide-brimmed hat in hand-blocked fur felt (now $149) that we wouldn't mind using as a winter topper. But the real prize (if you ask us, anyway) is the collection of alpaca and silk winter accessories. There's something that feels perfectly indulgent about bundling up in Peruvian alpaca, and if that something that can make a Chicago wintertime a little bit more bearable? We'll take it.
