Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The Chicago Sun-Times publication Splash has launched an online shop that showcases gift ideas handpicked by its editors. The first effort of its kind from a local media company, the cyber store is called SplashShop, and it focuses on goods from local designers and makers. Some items we're considering for a spot under the Christmas tree? A neon-hued leather envelope computer sleeve from C/Fan ($98), a schoolboy-style women's blazer from Two Penny Blue ($355), and a lotion travel set from Lifetherapy ($15.)
If you want to check out some of the goods in person—and sip holiday cocktails, get mini spa treatments, and bop to a live DJ—then pull out your day planner. Tomorrow night, Splash hosts its "Shop for Love, Holiday Style!" event at the Wit Hotel from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
