Today, we got word of an official opening date for Madewell, J.Crew's trendy little sister brand. In 40 days, on April 2, Madewell is bringing perfect-fitting tees, chambray shirts and vintage-inspired dresses to Rush Street. This is the third store in Chicagoland, after Old Orchard in 2011 and Oak Brook, which opened last fall.
In April of 2012, CEO Mickey Drexler said the brand had plans to grow its retail square footage by 30%. The company's strategy included placing itself near universities and in smallish college towns as well as large metro areas like Seattle and Washington D.C.. This leads us to believe there could be another location opening in 2013 with the rational suspects being The Roosevelt Collection and Block 37.
