Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

On August 1, Chicago is going to get one hell of a new spot to spend cash. It's called The Fashion Outlets of Chicago and it's situated a stone's throw away from O'Hare off the Blue Line at Rosemont. Though the website right now is useless, we hear it's going to be big. Like, colossal. Not only because it's the closest outlet mall we can think of to a city's downtown area, but because the company putting the whole deal together, AWE Tallisman knows exactly how to play the outlet development game. So far, they've got four properties in four states and plan to "set a new standard for outlet design" with the fifth location right here in Chicago.

Check it: The Fashion Outlets Las Vegas tout Karen Millen, Nike, Fendi Vogue Italia and Neiman's Last Call, to name a few. The Miracle Market Place in Miami is a good time too, touting ULTA, Nordstrom Rack and (woot!) Hooters.

We already know that Bloomingdale's is planning on anchoring the center along with the high end retailer Ports 1961 which only has two U.S. boutiques in New York and California thus far. Online we see that Gap, Godiva, American Eagle, and Lucky Brand are looking for sales associates already.

Now, what makes us think that something of interest is coming soon... very soon, are two things: First, the short but impressive track record of AWE Tallisman on properties they've opened in other cities, which aren't as close to highly trafficked thoroughfares as the Fashion Outlets of Chicago will be. And second, with a ribbon cutting set for August 1, they're going to have to start announcing the heavyweight names—more so than what Racked Chicago has scooped up so far. Today, we were informed by an insider that such an announcement could happen as early as next week.
