In just over a month on April 21, Alderman of the 48th Ward Harry Osterman will attend a bike rally kind-of Critical Mass at the opening market of The Vintage Garage. The vintage style ride will kick off the 2013 season where hundreds of bicyclists will converge on the quirky parking garage market. Harry's office tells us that he does ride a lot and did partake in a series of neighborhood bike rides (proving Uptown is safe) last summer. For this ride dubbed The Style Ride, Harry says they will make a few stops along the way to discuss "exciting biking initiatives and infrastructure" coming soon to Uptown.
Ample bike parking will be available in the side lot and anyone dressed head-to-toe in vintage gets free entry into the garage. When inside, there'll be an assortment of vintage bicycles and accessories for sale. As another initiative to spur shoppers to ride their bikes to the market, a photographer will be snapping pics of bicyclists and giving away cash to spend at the market.
