When Microsoft announced its plans to open a pop-up on Michigan Avenue, right down the street from Apple, we were sure the two brands would immediately be engaged in fisticuffs. Now after extending its lease, The Microsoft Specialty Store is going from being just a pop-up to a permanent shop—at least for the foreseeable future.

Based on the success of the Microsoft Specialty Store, it will remain open in 2013 providing consumers with the same choice, value and services they have come to expect from the shop so far. The stores offer consumers the opportunity to interact with and purchase products including Microsoft Surface Pro with Windows Pro 8, Windows 8 Phones, Office 365 and one Asus computer that isn't on the floor. This is great news for Microsoft customers and the people who work at the shop because after all, who doesn't like a little eye candy while working your shift.
