After Two Years Cop.Copine is Closing its Street Level Shop

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Cop.Copine, which we were the first to report was opening on Michigan Avenue in April 2011 is closing. In two short years, the store brought shoppers a relevant French style at an accessible price point. Currently the brand has doors in over nineteen countries around the world with the only two in San Francisco and Chicago.

Alas, not all is lost. Though there is not an exact date for the closure, the brand will be moving this location across the street onto the second floor of the 900 Shops sometime in the first week of June. When we spoke with the store manager, she said everyone would miss people watching at street level and keeping their doors open in the summer allowing fresh air into the store.
