Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Exhibitor tables have been sold out for months and rightly so because each year the annual Chicago Zine Fest draws more and more people. This nerdy/cool fest, in its fourth year happens this Friday and Saturday at Columbia College's Conway Center and expects to draw more than 5,000 independent lit enthusiasts. This is your chance to shop and peruse nearly any title possible ranging from vegan cookbooks printed on onion paper to essays about feminism and the riot grrrl movement care of Tacoma, Washington-based Mend My Dress Press.
As in past years, there will be off-site readings, games and pow-wows at The Boring Store and National favorite Quimby's. Bring cash though because some of the zine slingers, who are experts on some of the most interesting subcultures you'll ever hear about, aren't yet equipped with a dongle for credit cards. The full calendar can be found on Chicago Zine Fest's website.
