Hey discount shoppers and South Loop gentrification nay-sayers, the news today is that Nordstrom Rack plans to open a store on Canal and Roosevelt in 2014. The store has committed to a ten-year lease inside a soon-to-be-built shopping center called Maxwell, putting the last nail in Maxwell Street's street cred coffin. This store is the eighth store in Chicagoland after the location Lincoln Park which will open with The Shops on Fremont.
