Iranian-born designer known for innovative textiles, Behnaz Sarafpour has won the 2013 Cooper Hewitt National Award for Fashion Design. She was chosen for the award because of her ability to create environmentally conscious designs and transform "the way we live, think, work and communicate with each other". Designer Isabel Toledo, architect Thom Mayne and The Art Institute of Chicago's Zoë Ryan were part of this year's jury to select the winners.
