RIVER NORTH—After months of rumors, representatives have finally confirmed it—Shake Shack is on its way to the Windy City.

WEST LOOP—Andrew Brochu, one of the most talented and most nomadic chefs in the biz, has a new workplaceThe Aviary. More known for its James Beard Award-winning cocktails, Brochu has left Wicker Park's The Monarch to expand The Aviary's food program.

LOGAN SQUARE—There's a multi-tiered operation under construction on the 2300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue with an expanding number of hospitality projects. Look for two German spots, a distillery, a bar, and more to come in one complex.

CHICAGO—The Aviary wasn't the only one to win a James Beard Award recently. Paul Kahan (Publican) tied for the most prestigious award and Stephanie Izard (Girl & the Goat) picked up the nod for the best chef in the Great Lakes region.
