Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

In the mess of Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, Restoration Hardware, Crate & Barrel, West Elm, soon-to-be Tuesday Morning and Jayson Home & Garden it's easy to get lost and buy some piece of milktoast made in China furniture. These corners, where these stores sit, at the intersection of Clybourn, North and Halsted represent some heavy hitters in the homegoods and housewares category. But now, theres another shop making quite a splash.

Just north of that gentrified mess, theres Wreck Creation, a small boutique chock full of reclaimed, and up-cycled wooden and upholstered furniture pieces. Artist and animal lover Neil Galati, primarily known for his original artwork and reclaimed wood sculpture is featuring furniture, mirrors, coffee tables and cabinets in his new space--made of entirely reclaimed materials and vintage pre-loved soulful pieces.
