Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

A Target, described by our friends at Curbed as "blank and repulsive," is materializing in Cabrini-Green. The mega store, which will clock in at 190,000 square feet, has been looming over the neighborhood for close to two years now—ever since this rendering was released. According to Target's official press page, the store will debut this October and will offer all the typical Tar-jay goodness as well as a full grocery selection.

From the photo evidence above, shot just days ago by the construction zone-hopping reporters at Yo Chicago, it's really coming along. There's certainly no mistaking that bright red facade.
