Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

If you're in search of a unique way to spruce up both your wardrobe and apartment, a recently-opened shop in Humboldt Park may be the solution.

Owned by Claire Tibbs, Humboldt House sells home décor that the design fiend nabs from thrift shops, estate sales and Craigslist (much of which is refurbished) as well as new pieces from local furniture makers. You can find anything from seating and storage to oddities like terrariums and vintage knickknacks. The beautiful wares include fiberglass chairs, mid-century modern credenzas, quirky lamps and brightly-patterned rugs.

The furnishings goldmine also features a rotating lineup of local jewelry collections, like the one in-store now from Elana Riback. Interested shoppers should know, however, that the boutique is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.—Shelby Blitz
