Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
After a little more than a year in business, super-cool culinary shop and Racked 38 Home member Martyn George is shuttering.
According to the shop's website, the closing will allow owner and food and prop stylist Johanna Lowe to "concentrate more on th[e] online store and to have pop-ups around Chicago." Before the doors shut on July 21, Lowe will be hosting a major sale (with the addition of "wine, cheese and cheers!") on her stock of antique tabletop items, flatware, china, glass cake stands, lidded pots and other gorgeous kitchen tchotchkes. The discounts will be 25 to 75% off.
Lowe's shop, while short-lived, received much press and praise with mentions in Dwell, Food & Wine, Chicago Home & Design and more. It will live on as a web shop with an expanded selection of merchandise.
