Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Sad news dropped into our inboxes yesterday morning: CakeStyle, the online women's personal styling service, is (almost) no longer. The Chicago-based startup, which switched up the online shopping game, aimed to take the annoyance out of shopping by sending clothing straight to your door. Their farewell email also included hints of upcoming deals as they close up shop:

Keep your eye out over the next few days for our final farewell: an amazing sale, including many of your favorite CakeStyle designers at 50-80% off!
In the past, brands included on the site have ranged from Kate Spade to Rag & Bone. Though we don't know which ones will be included in the closeout sale, if it's anything like their selection while they were in business, it's not to be missed.—Moira Lawler
