Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Get ready for this, amateur interior decorators: The Dump, the discount offshoot of Virginia-based Haynes Furniture, will open a location in Lombard, IL. Why this matters to non-suburbanites: The shop will be stocked with reasonably priced couches, tables, rugs and other furniture, and has been hailed as the "TJ Maxx" of furniture. This will be The Dump's first Midwestern location, Crain's reports.
What'll you find there: A little bit of everything at every price point. From rugs that would set you back $20,000 at ABC Carpet and Home in NYC (here sold for a mere $5,000) to $100 rugs, the Dump will likely become a go-to...even if you have to venture out of the city to get there.
