Design students from the School of Art Institute of Chicago took on New York Fashion Week in what seemed like an episode of Project Runway: Student Edition. The SAIC-created looks were showcased in Elle's fourth Fashion | Next show, which features the work of up-and-coming designers. The panel of A-List judges included Joe Zee, Coco Rocha, Charlotte Ronson, Pamela Love, and others. Carlie Hougen, a recent SAIC grad, took home the grand prize of $25,000 and the Maybelline New York Fashion | Next Design grant. Among her looks? A buffalo plaid cape. Not too surprising for a North Dakota-native.
