Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

There's a new kid on Hyde Park's quickly populating shopping block. A tipster tells us that a second outlet of Independence boutique will open next month at 1506 East 53rd Street (that's next to Sir & Madame and a stone's throw from Akira.)

Specializing in made-in-America brands, the men's store stocks apparel and accessories from lines like Giltman Bros. Vintage, Engineered Garments, and Battenwear. We're getting a rugged-preppy vibe with a twinge of hipster—we think it will resonate well with the neighborhood's young intellectuals. (And there are even bow-ties for the profs.) What do you think?
