We were super bummed back in 2010 when Chicago designer Maria Pinto closed her West Loop boutique. However, we now have reason to celebrate! According to On the Runway, Pinto is taking another shot at designing with her very own ready-to-wear line, M2057 by Maria Pinto.
Since closing her store in 2010, Pinto has kept quite busy, doing everything from collaborating with contemporary dance group, The Seldoms, and offering her services to help re-design and organize closets. Now, the designer is using Kickstarter to fund and sell her new line, which is full of easy-to-wear jersey dresses, jackets and scarves in a range of colors from red to oxblood.
Pledges to Pinto's Kickstarter get some pretty awesome backer gifts. On the lower end, a pledge of $75 or more affords you a limited edition print or circle scarf. $250 or more and you can select a dress or jacket. On the higher end, a $1,000 donation gets you a mini collection of two dresses, a jacket, an accessory and a circle scarf. And if you've got the big bucks and pledge $5,000 or more, you get to spend half a day with Pinto in her design studio with two of your friends, along with receiving two dresses of your choice.—Shelby Blitz
