Stock up on that fishing gear while you can: Eddie Bauer will close its Michigan Avenue outpost soon. According to NBC Chicago, the flagship store will shutter on January 19. But it's unlikely that the space will sit empty for long.

"The Magnificent Mile is very dynamic," John Chikow, president of the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association, told NBC. "We have had closings over the last couple of years that have been replaced almost immediately by other iconic names."

As evidence of activity on the storied retail strip, Chikow pointed to the recent renovations of Ferragamo and Zegna, as well as the splashy new(ish) Burberry store.

In other closing news: Crain's Chicago Business reports that the Puma store at Block 37 has shuttered.
