Jelly Belly Candy Co. recently launched "Draft Beer" jelly beans. For some, this went over like a lead balloon.
On the company's Facebook page, miffed commenter The Blue Aero wrote: "Jelly Belly...wants to introduce alcohol taste to children so they will want to experiment with the real thing. SHAME ON JELLY BELLY!" In response, a rep for the candy company noted that these treats were designed for adults, and that "the joy of Jelly Belly is you get to pick your favorite flavors and avoid the ones you don't care for."
If you are one of those who cares for brewski, you can try the new bean at Candyality. The Red Eye reports that the local candy shop is due to get its first shipment any day now, and owner Terese McDonald is excited to chow down on the Hefeweizen-inspired treats. "I'll try them when they arrive and I can't wait—I like beer," she told the paper.
