Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
They say things happen in threes. Earlier this week, we got word that the Haymaker Shop and Uncle Fun are closing; now, we hear that Roslyn is following suit. (We know, right?)
After seven years in Bucktown, the shop will shutter at the end of January as owner Rosie Clayton pursues a savory new venture. "[My husband] James and I have been dreaming of opening a drinking and dining establishment together for a long time now," she wrote to Racked. "As some might know, I grew up in the Chicago restaurant business. My family owns five well-respected Thai restaurants in the city—Star of Siam, Dao, and Tiparos, to name a few." James is no industry newbie, either: he's worked at local restaurant groups including Boka and Hogsalt Hospitality.
The new restaurant will likely open in the summer of 2014—and, in the meantime, there are sales to be had.
For the rest of January, all fall and winter merchandise will be 50 percent off. Then, there will be a warehouse sale on January 25 and 26. The sale will offer 70 to 90 percent off all Roslyn merchandise and 50 percent off goods from Elise Bergman Studio.
