AROUND TOWN—It's time to update the Eater 38, the guide to the 38 essential restaurants in Chicago. This fall's edition sadly removes the closed Hot Doug's but adds Bavette's Bar & Boeuf and two more.

WEST LOOP—Momotaro, a Japanese business-inspired three-floor restaurant from the people behind Girl & the Goat and GT Fish & Oyster, opens Monday. Here is your first look inside the place they believe is their crown jewel.

WICKER PARK—Four floors of food, drink and games is heading to Milwaukee Avenue. Punch Bowl Social will include a 24-hour "gastrodiner," two bars, a bowling alley, ping pong, private karaoke rooms and more.
