On October 16, our fourth annual Racked Awards gala celebration is taking place in NYC, where we'll toast our country's best and brightest retail stars. We'll announce one winner daily leading up the party. Salon Blue, a sun-flooded salon in Lakeview, wins this year's award for the best place to treat yo' self. With a cozy, almost residential feeling, the salon and spa delivers alfresco hairstyling on a back patio when it's warm outside; during the winter months, sink into a salon chair in a setting filled with local artwork, fresh flowers, and (perhaps) a few cupcake samples.

The friendly, totally pro staffers use top-notch products from lines like Becca (for the makeup), Dermalogica (for the facials), and Kevin Murphy(for those tresses).

But what makes these services truly stand out is a heavy dose of soothing perks. The salon's conditioning treatments, for example, include a customized moisturizing treatment, a hot-towel wrap, a parafin treatment for the hands, and a scalp massage.
