Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
We must've seen at least four Facebook statuses make the leap from "in a relationship" to "engaged" last week (nice work, Cupid.) If you're one of those who got (or received) a brand new sparkler—and you happen to like things eco-friendly—save the date for February 23.
This Sunday, the Chicago Green Wedding Alliance will host its awesomely avant-garde wedding event Committed at Greenhouse Loft. In the true spirit of love, this expo caters to couples of all kinds (not just heterosexual). Plus, all the featured vendors use sustainable practices.
There will be tuxes and gowns on display (lovely bridal shop Mignonette is one of the vendors), plenty of snacks and sips, and ladies and gentleman—there is a Rumpus Room.
The space lets brides and grooms-to-be indulge in some D.I.Y. fun with activities that including designing a vintage place setting, creating a wishing tree for your event, and decorating votive candles. Yes, a wishing tree. (If you have one at your wedding, please invite us.) Get your tickets here.
