Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

This weekend, Andersonville businesses will participate in a new event dubbed Andersonville Loves Local. Geared at getting locals to explore the area's shops—and pick up some Valentine's Day gifts while they're at it—the event offers deals, in-store events, and entertainment (and, at some spots, even cookies.)

A couple examples of what will go down? Milk Handmade is hosting a cocktail dress trunk show with local designer Sophia Reyes, jewelry designer Michelle Starbuck will be at the store designing custom baubles, and Koval Distillery will be pouring organic cocktails. Plus, in honor of Valentine's Day, everything in the shop will be 14 percent off.

Over at Local Goods Chicago, Doodlebooth artist Jana Kinsman will be sketching portraits of individuals ($25) or couples ($45) on Saturday. Get complete event details here.
