RIVER NORTH—It was yet another big week for restaurant and bar openings, and the most ballyhooed has to do with an Iron Chef. Japonais reopened under famous chef Masaharu Morimoto after a packed chef-driven kickoff party the week before.

WEST LOOP—Visionary restaurateur Brendan Sodikoff (Bavette's, Gilt Bar, Maude's) unleashed his latest project too. Green Street Smoked Meats is a barbecue joint in a raw warehouse that will also house a ramen bar and juice bar.

CHICAGO—Eater continues to answer questions that will continually be asked until the end of time: Where should we eat and drink right now? Our latest eating and drinking Heatmaps hit the wires this week; don't go to them all at the same time.

RIVER NORTH—Element Collective (Nellcote, Old Town Social) unveiled its latest project too. They're dubbing Kinmont "the first completely sustainable seafood restaurant in Chicago.
