Welcome to our new series What I Wore, which showcases locals wearing cool things to cool places.
Lani Nguyen—also known as DJ Lani Love—donned her favorite cookie monster look for an outing to The Peninsula Chicago. Naturally, we had to know more.
"I bought the jacket two years ago from LOFT of all places," she told us. "I went in searching for work-friendly basics and left with bright blue faux fur—a typical Lani move, given my obsession with textures. I've given some of my pieces nicknames, including Big Bird shirt, Lamb Chop sweater, and Cookie Monster jacket."
What's her general pairing advice for faux fur in shocking blue? "I usually wear this jacket with black or dark skinny jeans," she said. "But on this day, I decided to wear it with a hat because I was in an urban explorer mood. The red glasses just happened to be within reach, and I liked the quirkiness they added to an already playful look."
Luckily, Nguyen had a fix for any cravings the outfit brought on. "I wore this to meet with a potential client about music programming and meet a friend at The Peninsula for afternoon tea service, which includes cookies."
