Bummer. After a pipe exploded in January and forced Perchance to set up shop in a hotel ballroom, the store will close. "This event has been catastrophic for us," owner Mary Liz Lehman said in an e-mail to Chicago Magazine. "As a result, after almost seven years in business, I write to you with a heavy heart to share that Perchance must close its doors permanently."

A liquidation sale is going on this week in the Faulkner ballroom at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. On offer: spring merchandise from Diane Von Furstenberg, Elizabeth and James, and and Tibi. The sale runs through Saturday, and then will continue online through April 18.
