Looking for wee ensembles and accessories? Save the date for May 1, when Bucktown will get a new children's shop called Peek. The San-Francisco-based brand has two outlets in the local suburbs—one in Oakbrook Center and One in Northbrook Court—but the Bucktown store marks its first Chicago location.
The shop will will stock clothing, shoes, accessories, and gifts for boys and girls aged 0 to 12. The brand's signature items include so-called "message tees," which bear upbeat sayings such as: "Nothing is worth more than laughter." There are also pretty little dresses with Indian block prints and Little Peanut baby clothes (we love the sound of the "Happy Pants.")
The Bucktown location will have the exclusive on Chicago-themed t-shirts that have "Windy City" (for boys) and "I Love Chicago" (for girls) scrawled across them.
Inspired by classic California architecture, the store's interior is decked with walnut picnic tables, vintage furniture, and monkey bars. There are also plastic jars filled with complimentary treats and toys.
