LAKEVIEW—After seven years in business, Eater 38 mainstay and iconic pizzeria Coalfire is constructing a second location. Look for it to open at 3707 N Southport in late summer or early fall.

RIVER NORTH—Restaurant and lounge Nouveau Tavern was shut down by the Chicago P.D. last Friday, who said that it is operating without licensing. And although they've reopened while they attempt to resolve the issue, ownership responded with a few allegations, including racial discrimination.

AVONDALE—Former Top Cheffer Beverly Kim and husband John Clark are getting close to opening their first restaurant, Parachute, and we got a peek at the menu. Many ingredients and methods at the Korean-American spot are very interesting.

WEST LOOP—Remember the three-level sports bar on Randolph, Market? Well, it's gone, and a chef-driven spot, Packing House, is soft open there. Check out the photographic evidence.
